Sleepy Dog Cabins | Northwestern Ontario Fishing and Hunting

Cabin 5 Comes Alive

I am out of hibernation as temperatures of 30 and 40 below are gone.  Although the snow’s not gone.  Other creatures are stirring in Northern Ontario as well, saw the first moth of the year and the first fly.

And so to work, I’m over at Cabin 5 now making  renovations.  A bedroom was added.  Lorenzo and  I changed the angle of the roof in the loft.  I have  relocated the second story stairs and am laying out the bathroom.  Progress keeps me enthused.

Initially,  I built this log cabin for my good friend Dave Bolei.  He and his family have enjoyed many a fishing trip, moose hunt and partridge expedition here over the years.  Connie and Dave still enjoy the trip up to the lake, even for ice fishing.

Can’t wait for our guests to enjoy this cabin.   Already a few musicians have checked out the acoustics to good effect.  I think we should officially open it with a house concert !

I recently came across this photo of phase one taken in 1981.  Watch for more pictures of all the changes made to be posted soon.
